then switch to channel 2 for the heavier stuff.I've been gigging for about 20 years. im looking for something that will compliment the clean channel primarily because i usually use an OD pedal through the clean channel with a strat for my tone. The 70/80 just isnt a great speaker all-around. but im more concerned with channel 1 and play mainly blues and rock then switch to channel 2 for the heavier stuff. seems like some of the eminence's are common choices: cannabis rex, RW&B, texas heat, etc.
so some people simply upgrade to the v30 but the threads ive read on here are mostly of people with the wr getting sick of the v30 and swapping it for something else. the only difference between my amp and the ycv40wr is the wr comes with a v30. It has the stock celestion 70/80 in there. these made a big difference so im looking for the speaker to compliment them and improve the amp as well. i went with a matched pair of tung-sol 5881 tubes for the two power tubes and three JJ ECC83-S/12AX7 Gold's for the preamp tubes. is this right? can you guys help me out?Īlso forgot to mention i did recently change the tubes out. but if theres no reading at the connection it would mean somethings wrong with the signal path? i did a similar thing with my car to check a faulty engine fan and figured it made sense for this too. is there a way to figure out if the tank stopped working or if its something in the signal path? maybe with a multimeter? im guessing if i test the lead to the reverb (just dont know which connection to test and for what) and its giving the right reading (another question: how do i know whats a proper reading) then that would mean the tank itself went out. im pretty handy and have been building guitars for a while so am familiar with their electronics and am good soldering (altho i dont think thats needed here) but i just dont know much about amps and would like to do as much as possible to fix it myself before bringing it to someone.
ive obviously checked to see if the connections came undone but they didnt but i havent tested the connections with a multimeter because im not sure if this is the right thing to do and if so if its the first thing i should do.
its an accutronics long-reverb with dual springs fyi. im wondering what i can do to diagnose and/or fix the problem. it just stopped working randomly, i recently changed all the tubes in the amp but i never touched the reverb and it worked after that and has only stopped working since then.
looking for some help with my traynor ycv40.
